Our History
The best outcome is to have a client who is equally happy with the design and the journey it took to create it.
After working in award winning design practices and leading projects of varying scales and complexities, Lachlan and Mikaela decided to establish ByTrace. in late 2022.
The driving force behind this endeavour was to cater to a clientele base who desire a bespoke and hands on experience. Due to being a small and dynamic studio, ByTrace. have been able to offer a competitive alternative to other high end architecture and interior design studios in Brisbane.
ByTrace. ensures that their clients are supported throughout the entire design journey by maintaining open communication and a collaborative environment. This level of communication extends past the design and documentation phases and continues with our full construction services.

Lachlan Anderson
Principal Architect, Studio Director
Lachlan is an architect known for his exceptional attention to detail, innovative problem-solving, and creative approach to design. His passion for architecture is evident in his commitment to delivering projects of the highest quality, and his focus on practical solutions that meet the needs of his clients.
After completing his Bachelors and Masters degree in Architecture at the Queensland University of Technology, Lachlan worked for an award winning firm whilst pursuing his professional registration as an architect. Constantly developing and refining his creative approach to problem solving that sets him apart from his peers. His keen eye for detail and close relationships with clients ensure that their vision is realised.
Mikaela Garrick
Principal Interior Designer, Studio Director
Mikaela is an Interior Designer with a passion for creating bespoke, tailored, and functional spaces. With a keen eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to her clients, she has established herself as a highly sought after professional in the interior design industry.
After completing her Bachelors degree in Environmental and Spatial Design at Edith Cowan University and prior to founding ByTrace. Mikaela lead the Interior Design division at an award-winning firm as the Principal Interior Designer.
Mikaelas signature style is reflected throughout all ByTrace. designs. From concept through to construction she creates refined, timeless spaces that blend seamlessly with the architecture. Her use of texture, materials and finishes create a warm, inviting, and cohesive atmosphere, whilst her emphasis on timeless design ensures that her work will stand the test of time.
